Our views on the Traffic Committee’s proposal

Croydon’s Traffic Committee has published a proposal to make Addiscombe Court and Canning Road no entry from Addiscombe Road.

TACRA welcomes the proposal and consultation, which will mitigate the impact of the implementation of one-way working in Lebanon Road, which has displaced large volumes of traffic and associated problems into neighbouring streets.

We are glad to see that rather than consulting a small area, the Council now recognises that to resolve these types of road issues, wider consultations are needed.

The proposal will also greatly improve road safety around the Lebanon Road tram stop. We note that this is not discussed in the Council’s report, but should be an important part of the impact assessment.

This is to be discussed at the next Traffic Committee on Wednesday 8th February 2017 starting at 6.30, in the Town Hall – Room F10, Katharine Street, Croydon CR0 1NX.

The meeting is open to the public and TACRA recommends our residents attend in order to demonstrate residents concerns, and how the greatly increased traffic volumes are negatively impacting on the public and resident’s safety, as well as their daily lives.
