ECCO has received a community grant of £500 from Croydon Council to improve the planted areas.
Their first priority is to develop the bed on the eastern corner of Addiscombe Road and Bisenden Road. ECCO planted a lime-tree in this bed in May in memory of Joan Pick.
There is now a proposal to improve the bed by planting the following trees and shrubs:
Five dogwood trees spaced evenly in the planted area: at the back left, back centre, back right, and at the front inside left and front inside right
Underplanting of Periwinkle, Cyclamen Coum, Cyclamen Hederifolium and Narcissus ‘Tête á Tête’ in two marked beds in the centre foreground of the planted area.
Do you have any views on that which is proposed? If so please email them to Jerry or post through his letter-box; contact details below.
He would like to take this opportunity to inform you that ECCO members will also be weeding and tidying the planted areas as set out below:
Date: Saturday 4th November 2017
Time: 10 a.m. until midday
Meet at: Corner of Addiscombe/Blake Roads
Of course, no-one is expected to work for the whole two hours unless they feel able to, but ECCO would be pleased if you could join the tidy-up for such shorter time as you choose. Equipment such as loppers, shears, secateurs, bags, brooms and a wheelbarrow are provided (courtesy of the Council): please bring your own if you have them.
